28 May 2012: The spotlight on London continues on the BBC Channels around the World with The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee: Services of Thanksgiving and Royal Procession which will be broadcast live as part of London Calling – a unique season that celebrates the city of 2012.

On Tuesday, 5 June, the formal celebrations will include a special Thanksgiving Service to commemorate the momentous occasion. Attended by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, and other members of the Royal Family, the service will be delivered by the Dean of St Paul’s, The Very Reverend Dr David Ison, and the Archbishop of Canterbury, who will lead the gathering in prayer.

A Royal Procession will take place later in the day as the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge depart from the Palace of Westminster for Buckingham Palace in carriages. The Queen and Prince Philip will be travelling in the 1902 State Landau.

Personnel from all three military services will line the streets whilst the procession, accompanied by the Sovereign’s Escort, is greeted by the King’s Troop that will fire a riotous 60-gun salute. Upon their arrival at Buckingham Palace, the Queen and the Royal Family will gather on the balcony for an RAF flyover and a Feu de Joie, a celebratory cascade of rifle fire given as a salute by The Queen’s Guard, from the forecourt.

The Royal Procession will be an incredible sight for the World to behold. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to line the streets of London to celebrate this remarkable achievement and BBC viewers around the World will be able to share this amazing moment in London’s history from the comfort of their own homes.

In addition to the spectacular Jubilee celebrations, London Calling will also feature humorous and inspiring programmes that will build anticipation for watching the Olympics on TV later in the summer, such as Twenty Twelve – a wickedly funny mockumentary series starring Hugh Bonneville about the fictional team responsible for delivering the London Olympics.
