The digital destination for the BBC’s London Calling season has been busy engaging viewers around the World through a host of fun challenges and quizzes centred on the city of 2012.

Visitors to can choose the territory in which they live to go to their regionally tailored site that features an exciting interactive map of the UK’s capital city. Each regional London Calling site allows people to compete for attractive prizes such as iPads and iPhones, goodie bags, generous flight and shopping vouchers, and a trip to London. The BBC Worldwide Channels regions are South Africa, Asia, Europe, India, Nordic, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, and Latin America.

Each of the participating regions has a main competition with a grand prize that runs the length of the London Calling season; the closing date is midnight on Monday, 2 July. Visitors must explore the website, answer quizzes, complete challenges, and unlock zones to receive codes in order to enter. Acting as virtual tourists, users can take guided online tours, answer riddles to embark on a treasure hunt of London’s famous landmarks, drop pins on historical locations on the map, and undertake other clever missions that highlight London’s wealth of cultural and entertainment offerings.

The grand prizes vary according to region, but highlights include a 40-inch 3D/HD Sony television, £1,000 shopping voucher for a brand of the winner’s choosing, Flightcentre vouchers for $4,000, a Yahama Blu-Ray 3D/HD Home Cinema System, and a package trip to London that includes a flight, four star hotel for three nights, tour of the city, airport transportation, $400 for expenses, and a digital camera.

Additionally, several on-the-spot competitions lasting 48 hours will run throughout the season. Winners may receive goodie bags, iPads, and/or iPhones, depending on where they live. Visitors will be able to enter these on-the-spot challenges when different neighbourhoods become unlocked on the map. Each locked district features a clock counting down to the moment the contest will be opened.

The London Calling programme schedules also feature prominently on the site, which include popular shows such as Sherlock series 1 and 2 and Twenty Twelve, a comic look at Olympic preparations. Viewers can check out other Olympic-themed programming like the inspiring Going for Gold: the ’48 Games that will get them in the mood to watch the Olympics on TV later in the summer.
