“Organizations are starting a new way of collaborating that also needs to work optimally over distances.

Linschoten, june 11 2012 – The majority of Dutch organizations acknowledge the importance of proper remote collaboration and stimulate the use of collaboration technologies. Nevertheless, over half (53 per cent) of these organizations have no policy with regard to this subject. These are the results of a study among CIOs and IT managers by Talk & Vision, specialist in video communications and managed video services, in cooperation with Nyenrode Business University.

In addition, the study showed that remote collaboration is expected to increase. More than half of the respondents (51 per cent) expect employees to mainly collaborate virtually and stay in touch through collaboration technologies in ten years. 70 percent of the respondents experience a significant relationship between remote collaboration and the organizational performances.

Joost Deckers, Managing Director at Talk & Vision: “Organizations are starting a new way of collaborating that also needs to work optimally over distances. We meet organizations which still make starters mistakes, for example by investing in means that don’t fit the organization’s collaboration structure. Right now it is important to gain an insight into that structure and to adjust the policy, so that unnecessary investments are prevented. This is the only way for organizations to join the New Way of Working, in which a physical distance needs to be bridged."

In cooperation with Dr. Jeroen van der Velden (Business University Nyenrode), Talk & Vision has researched this topic among 126 CIOs and IT managers. Aim of the study was to identify the management view on using collaboration technologies.
