Carew Castle

Families wanting more for their money can now gain unlimited entrance for a year to two of the National Park’s unique attractions, making a family holiday even more affordable.

Joint season tickets covering annual entrance to Carew Castle and Tidal Mill and Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort – managed by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority - are now available from any National Park site or visitor centres.

Carew Castle Site Manager Teresa Hogsflesh said: “A joint season ticket lasts one year from the date it is purchased and prices are as follows: adults £15, concessions (OAPs, students, children) £12, family (2 adults and 2 children) £40. Normal entry prices are £4.75, £3.50 and £12.75 respectively, so it’s a great saving if you want to get out regularly with the family for a day out.”

Castell Henllys often plays host to a Prehistoric Fayre with demonstrations and workshops ranging from wood turning on a pole lathe and basketry to metal working coupled with demonstrations of Iron Age warfare and weaponry. A great addition to any family holiday.

Karl Lee, one of the few professional flint knappers in Britain, will be demonstrating his craft, while sharing archaeological information. For a small fee people can learn, under Karl’s expert tuition, how to make tools such as arrowheads, spearheads or hand axes.

Don’t miss out on Fighting and Farming and Threshold to the Past events which are also on offer at the Iron Age Fort. The ancient Celtic Feast of Beltaine will also be celebrated at Castell Henllys on Bank Holiday Tuesday with a Willow Workshop, Myths and Mysteries and Burning the Wicker Man.

Immerse yourself in times past with sword fighting, archery displays, and displays of armour and blunt weapons to inspire the imagination of the oldest would-be knight, or those of a gentler persuasion can wander through the Herb and Craft Fayre with its herb garden and craft and produce stalls.
