A north-west production company has completed a suite of animated sequences for a flagship BBC One Olympic TV series.

Macclesfield’s Mediafour were commissioned by BBC Sport to create a number of athlete spotlights and compilations for British Olympic Dreams, a series following the fortunes of British stars on the road to London 2012.

“It was an absolute honour to be involved in this production for the greatest sporting event in the world,” said Jon Falkner, Owner, Mediafour.

The programmes, which have been screened in the build up to the games, features gold medal contenders such as Mo Farrah, Dai Greene and Mark Cavendish and takes a close look at their training preparations for the big event.

The sequences produced by Mediafour use hi-definition super slow-motion footage with synchronised animated text overlays providing fast facts and vital statistics about athletes and their training methods.

“The team worked tirelessly under tight timeframes on what has been a fun and successful project for the Corporation’s Olympic output,” added Jon.

Olympic Dreams was originally broadcast on BBC One on Saturdays at 1pm and is currently available on the iPlayer to watch on demand. Clips can also be viewed at
