Dorset based luxury ‘bathroom expert’ Robert Mühl has produced a guide on ‘How To Use The Toilet Without being Injured or Killed’.

Managing Director of Bridport Luxury bathroom company Ocean Bathrooms produced the guide in response to reading alarming bathroom accident statistics and his own 25 years in the Bathroom business.

“Mercifully we keep most of the details of our average of 2500 annual bathroom experiences to ourselves but hospital statistics and some of the horror stories that us bathroom insiders hear support the fact that bathrooms can be very dangerous places – and specifically the toilet” says Robert.

Robert added “That’s the reason why I’ve produced my own 3 step guide entitled ‘How to use the Toilet Safely’. I don’t know of another guide like it out anywhere out there. It may seem a funny thing to do but broken bones and worse injuries are a serious matter wherever they happen”.

Robert summarises the 3 main points if the guide as follows 1. Always make sure your toilet seat is fitted correctly. 2. Keep the toilet lid down at all times between visits. 3. Never stand on the toilet.

Robert points out that UK A&E or hospital statistics reflect the results of the U.S. study that showed 40,000 people being injured every year by their toilet with children being the recipients of some of the worst injuries often by falling down the toilet.

Popular documented causes of toilet related injuries are poorly fitted and loose toilet seats, sitting down on the toilet when the seat is still up, standing on the toilet, children falling down the toilet, or little boys being struck on the genitals by a falling toilet seat.

Popular documented injuries include bruises, dislocations, broken bones and damaged backs, many of which result from hitting other items of bathroom furniture and fittings while on the way down from the initial slip or fall.

“Who knows, following my simple 3 step toilet safety guide could even save your life” says Robert.
