This autumn will celebrate a decade of global data capture specialist DRS supporting the FAB (Federation of Awarding Bodies) Annual Conference. Taking place on 12 and 13 November in Warwickshire, the focus for this year’s event is vocational qualifications and, specifically, what the future holds.
Key topics include e-assessment and quality assurance, highlighting the inevitability of the increasing use of e-assessment and the potential challenges regarding quality assurance. DRS will be on hand to demonstrate how advancements in technology and the availability of that technology has led to a greater demand for confidence in, and overall adoption of electronic assessment solutions worldwide.
DRS’ general manager for education, Sid Spalding, comments; “The FAB National Conference is the ideal platform to demonstrate the significant developments in the quality of electronic marking technology and the tangible benefits for awarding bodies, giving them a greater understanding and confidence to consider this as part of their assessment process.”
DRS will highlight case studies illustrating how e-Marker® electronic marking technology can improve the quality approaches used in marking tests and examinations, in addition to satisfying the need for increased efficiencies in the overall marking process.
DRS has worked with awarding bodies who are using electronic assessment and for the second consecutive year have surveyed markers who have been utilising the DRS technology. At the FAB event DRS’ senior account manager Samantha Jones will share some of the survey results with the delegation, highlighting key benefits for both the awarding or professional body and the markers themselves, including significant cost savings, the positive impact on quality control and greater efficiency for all.
Samantha Jones explains; “The marker surveys emphasised the positive shift in markers’ opinion, showing greater understanding and confidence of electronic marking with comments such as, ‘Easy to use and it’s good to know how much has been marked so far’ and ‘Quicker, no paper scripts, no adding of marks’. We can clearly give FAB Conference delegates the quality assurances they seek. The event is an opportunity to share with professional bodies the tangible benefits of electronic marking for vocational qualifications, giving them a comprehensive insight to knowledgeably and confidently consider this as part of their assessment process.”
