The rise in people using smartphones to shop makes text alerts a great way to grab their attention with time-sensitive offers

West Byfleet, Surrey – 27 September 2012 - Merchants using Actinic, the cloud-based ecommerce solution for online retailers, now have access to SMS campaign management for communicating with their customers via their smartphones.

SMS marketing is the perfect complement for Actinic customers who use a mobile-optimised version of their store as an additional shopping channel to help drive traffic and increase customer engagement.

The Actinic SMS marketing tool enables e-tailers to send messages to announce new products and sales promotions to targeted lists of customers.

SMS messages can be sent to specific groups of users. For example you can select shoppers by their language, country whether they have or haven’t placed an order, those that have purchased a particular product or even the amount they have spent.

Other recent developments

• Since April, through a partnership with Emailvision, Actinic customers have been able to contact their customers by sending targeted emails, manage mailing list databases and measure the effectiveness of their campaigns.

• In May a Loyalty Programme and Referral Scheme was introduced so online merchants could reward their customers with points when they placed an order, or if they introduced someone to the site. These points can then be redeemed against a future order.

• A mail order and telephone order (MOTO) function has also been added to allow processing of orders received offline via telephone, mail or fax, directly into Actinic.

Availability and cost

Actinic SMS functionality is included in the monthly subscription available from £15 + VAT. Prices for sending SMS messages range from £25 for a pack of 250 messages to £149 for 2,000 texts.
