e-DBA, a specialised Oracle Platinum Partner, has developed four Oracle labs as part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Oracle Test Drive programme. Each lab available on AWS Oracle Test Drive is free and can be used by organisations for up to five hours enabling users to test their chosen Oracle lab as if it was in production.

Amazon Web Services is running the Oracle Test Drive programme in order to allow organisations to experience first-hand the advantages of AWS hosted Oracle Solutions. The labs allow end users to both learn and experience how Oracle in the cloud can be used as a reliable and cost-effective solution within their businesses. Providing the lab test drive for free allows organisations to try out the cloud for themselves, with no obligations. It is perfect for organisations who were previously hesitant to use the cloud, to try it and see exactly how quickly they can deploy a secure and reliable Oracle instance in the cloud.

The four labs created by e-DBA so far are:

• Oracle 11g on AWS
• Oracle Secure Backup to S3
• Oracle DataGuard
• Oracle Active DataGuard

These labs are available now to test drive; register to try them here.

Founder of Amazon Web Services, Jeff Bezos, has also blogged about the test drive program. He gives details of what you can expect to learn by completing a lab. You are able to read his blog here.

e-DBA are one of only ten Oracle and AWS partners to be invited to provide the labs for this programme, and are the only UK and EMEA partner involved. Being the sole UK and EMEA partner to provide this service acts as a testament to the achievements of e-DBA’s Oracle ability which include being named ‘Oracle Technology Partner of the Year’ by Oracle in March this year.

James Anthony, Technology Director at e-DBA, commented “We are excited to be part of the Amazon Oracle Test Drive programme and feel very privileged to be the only UK & EMEA partner involved. Over the last few weeks we have been working hard to create and test the labs to ensure that they are ready.” He added: “We believe this is the perfect way to give customers a taste of exactly how easy and simple AWS is to use and deploy Oracle in the Cloud from a simple Oracle 11g database instance through to using Oracle Active DataGuard.”

More information about the labs available to test drive can be found on the AWS labs page.
