Increasing EU legislation relating to commercial building systems have again highlighted the need for many building owners and operators to seek specialist help and support in all aspects of their building’s maintenance

An EU protocol which could mean that 40% of the UK’s refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment needs to be replaced by the end of 2014 is another reminder to building owners / operators that going it alone with maintenance is beginning to look less viable and more stressful by the day.

Although the EU has sound environmental concerns at the heart of its intention to swap the R22 refrigerant gas in air conditioning systems with an ozone friendly alternative the fact is that many building owner operators are unlikely to know about many of the basic aspects of air conditioning systems until something goes wrong.

As well as addressing concerns about actual damage to the environment, effective expert support with the maintenance of building systems maintenance can mean that work reduce the contribution to building’s carbon footprint by the air conditioning is very likely to also make the system run more effectively and cost efficiently.

Commercial building owners and operators who seek expert help from a skilled and experienced building maintenance services supplier can therefore start to make significant cost savings in the future to offset against the cost of those maintenance services as well as getting the peace of mind of knowing that the maintenance services supplier will keep them totally up to date with legislation compliance.
