Is infertility finally out of the closet?
3 years ago, as press releases announced the launch of a high-profile, public exhibition aimed at couples struggling to conceive, Jenni Murray on Woman’s Hour dubbed it “the Ideal Home Exhibition for making babies”.
Meanwhile The Daily Mail’s Claudia Connell went undercover to write an exposé titled, “There’s one born every minute”.
But as the fourth Fertility Show opens at London’s Olympia Exhibition Centre next week, staged in association with leading patient support charity Infertility Network UK, have times moved on? Is infertility losing its taboo status? Can we now talk about this subject as just another aspect of modern life?
As the reality of infertility affects more and more people, as every day newspapers carry in depth features on it and as 4,000 people make the journey next week to visit an event all about infertility, we think so.
By offering first rate seminars and access to some of the best brains in fertility, the organisers of the Fertility Show hope to contribute to sufferers’ understanding and knowledge as well as to help remove the shame often associated with infertility.
There are hundreds of thousands out there dealing with it. Here is an event just for them.
