Leading Forex platform providers FxPro are offering students the opportunity to earn a grant worth £3,000 along with a summer internship at FxPro’s London based offices.

Students starting an undergraduate degree course in 2012-2013 studying economics, finance or a closely related subject at a participating university will be eligible to enter the competition. In order to take part, students must submit a 1,000 – 1,500 word essay showcasing their knowledge and interest in the financial industry.

The essay question options are as follows;

• Will the Chinese Yuan become a reserve currency?
• Could a political union save the euro?
• Is government borrowing good or bad for a currency?

All essays will be judged by FxPro’s Chief Strategist Michael Derks and Chief Economist Simon Smith before a successful applicant is announced. The chosen essay will be published on FxPro’s UK website.

The £3,000 grant will be paid in three equal £1,000 instalments in December 2012, following the announcement of the competition results, and then in March 2013 and May 2013 upon the commencement of the second and third university semesters respectively.

In addition to the monetary prize, the successful student will be offered an internship at the FxPro offices in the city of London. This will provide the student with an opportunity to gain industry experience and career skills, as well as insight into the operations of FxPro’s leading brokerage services.

Currently the universities participating in the scholarship programme are the University of Hull, the University of York, the University of Leeds and the Leeds Metropolitan University. Entry details are dependent on the university in question and can be found on each of the universities websites.

Students applying for the FxPro Scholarship will need to submit their essays prior to the closing date of Monday 19th November 2012. Personal tutors of applicants will also be contacted and asked to provide a reference on behalf of their students. The author of the chosen essay will be contacted by their university and the result will be announced on on the 31st January 2013.
