The Celtic Manor Resort is opening a “pop-up” restaurant for four days in Cardiff to showcase its culinary skills to a new audience.
The resort’s Hide’n’Sea restaurant in Pontcanna will open from Thursday November 22-Sunday November 25, serving a pared-back menu dominated by gourmet lobster and burger dishes.
A popular concept in London, “pop-up” restaurants operate for short periods in vacant premises and are seen as a way to pilot culinary projects or introduce existing restaurants to a new area, and make a great addition to any UK city break.
Hide’n’Sea will take over the former Mimosa Lounge in King’s Road, at the end of Pontcanna Street, and bring all of Celtic Manor’s five-star hotel and restaurant expertise to its chic little menu.
Celtic Manor Food and Beverage Director Glenn Lewis said: “This is a very exciting project and we are looking forward to bringing something a little bit different to Cardiff.
“The pop-up restaurant is a great way to give people a taste of what we do at Celtic Manor’s six restaurants. The short-term nature of Hide’n’Sea means the menu is a simple choice of burger or lobster, but it is also a fun menu and similar restaurants have proved very popular in London.
Gourmet burgers will be served in brioche buns with cheddar, bacon and tomato while lobsters can be eaten from their shells, in a roll or as a cocktail. Tempting desserts include chocolate mousse with a difference and gooey pecan pie smothered in caramel sauce.
Hide’n’Sea orders will be taken Thursday 7.30-10.30pm, Fri-Sat 12.00-10.30pm, Sun 12-3.30pm. Book your table online atwww.celtic-manor.com/hidensea. For large parties or special requests, call 01633 410262.
