Stride Creative - Who's the Client?

“We wanted to generate some curiosity, break away from traditional schools marketing and encourage audiences to think slightly differently

Stride Creative the full service agency has just launched an anonymous, brand-free campaign as part of its profile raising remit for one of its clients, Burgess Hill School for Girls

In a radical departure from traditional schools’ marketing, Stride has developed a campaign called “The Ultimate Christmas Gift” for the forward-thinking Sussex independent school.

Using bold, Christmas themed visuals the campaign is anonymous; there is no direct reference to the school, its branding or logo. The campaign runs across multiple media including billboards, online and print media, banners and the school’s mini-bus livery and has its own micro-site. Only by clicking through online or using the embedded QR codes, will visitors link to the school.

Developed by Stride Creative’s managing director, Nathan Stride, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the school with its original approach and striking visual.

“We wanted to generate some curiosity, break away from traditional schools marketing and encourage audiences to think slightly differently about education. This campaign gets people to think firstly about their ultimate Christmas present, and then links into education, suggesting that an education at Burgess Hill School for Girls could be the ultimate gift for a daughter or grand-daughter”.

He added: “It’s unusual to have a school campaign that extends across so many different media platforms at the same time". Most schools will use one or maybe two types of media, but we’ve opted for a multi-media approach. It provides many more touch-points for the campaign, enabling us to reach new audiences who may not be familiar with the school or even independent schools.”

Ann Aughwane, headmistress at Burgess Hill School for Girls is delighted with the new campaign, commenting: “It’s certainly a new approach for us and one which we believe is markedly different from anything that we’ve seen from other schools. We’re always looking to raise our profile locally and regionally and I’m confident that far from making us appear anonymous, the campaign will give us a higher profile”.

About Burgess Hill School for Girls

Burgess Hill School for Girls is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged from 3 to 18. Founded in 1906, by the three Goode sisters to provide excellent education for local girls, this ethos is still very much part of the school’s philosophy. Moving to its current site in 1928, the school is located on 14 acres within a conservation area close to the town centre.

Today, the school provides an outstanding and broadly based education, which includes many extra-curricula activities from theatre and music to technology and sports. With excellent academic results, many students take up places at leading UK universities and colleges. For further information, visit
