“The premise of CloudStore has always been to deliver savings and IT-services fit for the 21st century into the public sector.

Leading data centre consultancy brings specialist enterprise-grade cloud and colocation services to the public sector

Norwich, England, 29 November 2012 - MigSolv, (Migration Solutions), MigSolv the datacentre consultancy, today announced that it has been awarded a place on the G-Cloud ii framework for specialist cloud services hosting. With one of the leading purpose-built data centres in the country, MigSolv will deliver its range of enterprise-grade cloud and colocation services to public sector organisations for the first time.

G-Cloud ii is an expansion of the G-Cloud Service launched by the Cabinet Office in February 2012. 257 suppliers were signed to the original framework. The second iteration of the programme went live on 26 October 2012 and now offers 3,000 services from 458 IT suppliers. Available through the government CloudStore, public sector organisations have been encouraged to procure IT services from a richer and more diverse group of suppliers to drive greater efficiency and savings for UK taxpayers.

On the G-Cloud ii placement, Alex Rabbetts, MD MigSolv said: “The premise of CloudStore has always been to deliver savings and IT-services fit for the 21st century into the public sector. The latest incarnation of G-Cloud could be a revelation by giving some of the UK’s brightest and most innovative but smaller IT vendors the opportunity to compete with larger IT firms for government IT business – and arguably making the bidding process; simpler, quicker, cheaper and more even.”

In the CloudStore MigSolv will be listed under Lot 4; the Agile development and management services category. The data centre consultancy will offer public sector organisations a suite of high-end cloud solutions including application, enterprise-hosting and managed cloud services as well as data centre consultancy, operations and ICT migration including computer room and data centre relocations. MigSolv cloud and colocation services are supervised by an in-house 24x7 Network Operations Team.

While one of the main objectives for G-Cloud is to reduce public sector IT procurement cycles through pre-approved services, the reality is that many of the services found in CloudStore are not commodity-type products and require tailoring to suit particular needs. Rabbetts thinks ‘the fact that these services are listed on an approved-catalogue makes it possible for public sector organisations to firstly, understand their availability then open doors to the procurement process, which would otherwise be closed to some of the UK’s IT SMEs’.

Rabbetts concluded: “MigSolv has a rich history of delivering high-end IT services into the private sector and we now have the opportunity to showcase this to a captive-government audience. Today, we work with numerous businesses that have vacated central London premises and placed critical IT systems into our facility in East Anglia. We have not only been able to deliver an improved IT service but in most cases, significantly lowered costs. I am confident that all public sector organisations, without exception, will be looking at ways to maintain service-levels while reducing their IT budgets in the New Year.”
