FreeAgent, the UK’s leading cloud accounting system provider, has today launched its first dedicated Self Assessment checklist, designed to help small businesses and freelancers tackle their tax return ahead of the January 31st deadline.

The guide, written by the company’s Chief Accountant Emily Coltman, is available free to download at and has been written for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Directors of Limited Companies.

FreeAgent has developed the checklist as a roadmap that guides readers through the essentials for Self Assessment - giving freelancers and small businesses the information they need to complete and file their tax returns.

Ed Molyneux, CEO and founder of FreeAgent said: “We want to help all freelancers and small business owners get to a happy place when filing their Self Assessment this year, so we’ve created this easy-to-follow checklist to help them stay on the right path.

“Self Assessment can be a very confusing time for small business people, so we want to ensure they have a stress-free experience in 2013. FreeAgent is already enabling small businesses and freelancers to feel more confident about managing their business accounts, so we want this checklist to help them also feel confident about filing their tax return.”
