Advanced Health & Care’s CareSys is enabling speedier and more accurate reporting for commissioners

23 January 2013 - Wirral Autistic Society is improving the way it monitors and manages service user behaviour by using CareSys from Advanced Health & Care (Advanced). The solution is also increasing the accuracy and speed of reporting to commissioners. CareSys, which is a fully-integrated software solution for care organisations, went live at the Society in September 2012.

Wirral Autistic Society offers a wide range of services and support for people with autism and their families across 30 sites. The Society has developed a strong reputation and has grown significantly since its foundation as a parental support group 44 years ago. As a result of its growth, the Society required the support of a sophisticated IT system tailored to the needs of care organisations.

Steve Nunwick, Director Estates & Facilities from Wirral Autistic Society, says, “We are always looking at ways to modernise our services and take advantage of the best new technologies so that we can work as efficiently as possible whilst continuing to provide quality care.”

CareSys provides care organisations with a complete end-to-end business application that includes care, financial, operational and management features. The Society has invested in the Behaviour Support and the Time and Attendance components of the CareSys solution to support its hundreds of service users.

Nunwick says, “Monitoring and reporting on the behavior of our clients is key for an organisation which supports people with autism, but prior to implementing CareSys it was virtually impossible for us to do this accurately. Our service user information tended to be more subjective, often relying on the opinions and assumptions of the careworkers.”

CareSys’ Behaviour Support module enables detailed monitoring of behaviours, consequences, incidents, interventions and outcomes. The module also includes a powerful analysis tool, which helps identify triggers and trends. This is already helping the Society’s careworkers to enhance the quality of life for children and adults with behavioural difficulties.

Nunwick comments, “This new technology allows us to more easily extract, record and talk about the facts regarding our clients’ behaviours rather than making assumptions. We can also analyse the statistics in much more detail and with far greater accuracy.”

With the addition of the Time and Attendance module, the Society is now able to better manage staff time, from ‘clocking in’ all the way through to getting paid. As the Society can more accurately monitor and report staff hours, this is supporting compliance, including assisting with the auditing process.

Nunwick adds, “We can now turn around more timely and accurate reports for the senior management team and our commissioners. As the whole process is far more efficient, this frees-up time so that our staff can focus on delivering care.”
Wirral Autistic Society is currently looking at extending its CareSys product modules.

CareSys is used by more than 2,000 residential, nursing and specialist care homes across the UK. The solution includes ten modules, including: Time and Attendance, Income/Billing, Person Centred Care, Behaviour Support, Care Scheduling, Payroll, Finance, Staff HR, Enquiries and Equipment Maintenance.
