Did you know that the 28th July 2014 commemorates the 100th year anniversary of the start of the Great War? A charity walk will commence in the heart of the Somme, France on this day and will continue for over 6 days through France and into Belgium, ending on the 4th August 2014 in the heart of Flanders Fields in the town of Ypres, to coincide with the anniversary of the UK joining the Great War. The walk is over 120 miles long and the Telford printer Graphics and Print is proud to not only be supporting the event called ‘March 100’ but will also have a member of its team participating in it.

The walk not only provides an opportunity for people to remember those who lost their lives in the Great War but also a chance to raise money for charity. There will be charity raising events all the way up to the final event in just under 18 months’ time but the two chosen charities being supported by March 100 are Blesma and Baronmotorsports. Graphics and Print will be providing support in the form of leaflet printing, logo design and support with building the website and are once again proud to be able to support such a deserving cause.

Here’s Graphics & Prints’ Marketing Manager and participant in the event, Stephen Davis, to tell us more: “Graphics and Print has a reputation for not only being a successful commercial printer but also for supporting the communities which we serve. We were recently featured in the Shropshire Star and the Telford Journal for some leaflet printing, poster printing and graphic design we arranged free of charge for our troops in Camp Bastion in Afghanistan and this is just another example amongst many of how we like to help and support our community. Blesma is a charity that helps wounded servicemen and women from all conflicts, who have lost limbs, or the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support. Baronmotorsports is a charity that was started by Steve Gill, better known to many of you for being on big brother 2010. Steve was injured by a bomb in 1989 while on patrol in Belfast. The married father-of-eight lost both legs as well as an eye. He now wears a black glass eye which his kids love as they think it makes him look like a pirate. Baronmotorsports helps limbless squaddies get involved in motor sports as spectators as well as taking part. The aims are; 1) to facilitate the social rehabilitation of the physically disabled through participating in and experiencing sports activities and events: 2) to deliver vocational training for the physically disabled; 3) to facilitate the social rehabilitation of the physically disabled through the provision of rest, recreation and recuperation opportunities. Graphics & Print are extremely proud to be supporting both these charities through the ‘Walk 100’ event and I will post some pictures of the event on our website, as I will be one of the many participating in the 120 mile walk.”

Graphics and Print are an award winning commercial printers who have maintained a strong commitment to the communities in which they operate. They are one of the few commercial printers to make a commitment that every one of its employees will spend a minimum of two days per year, during work time, supporting disadvantaged people in having a better life. Graphics and Print started in Telford in 1980 as a small family-run business, and knows how important it is to have local support in order to succeed. Despite their rapid growth, they have managed to maintain a ‘family’ atmosphere during their growth journey, creating their own internal company community. This sense of valuing their people is expressed through their interaction with the wider society.

Graphics and Print manufacture the majority of their products in-house and provide an end-to-end service when it comes to commercial printing services, having a design studio, print operators and finishing team all under one roof, making the customer print journey a seamless one!
