We've seen valentines sales double compared with last year.

According to figures released today by Deal Zippy, a search engine for daily deals, more Brits are forgoing the usual rush on the shops in the lead up to valentines day, instead opting to take advantage of online offers on valentines gifts and romantic weekend breaks through sites like Groupon, KGB Deals and Living Social.

Amoung the deals budget conscious romantics have been snapping up are valentines bouquets with up to 50% off, lingerie for GBP 19 and photobooks for just GBP 14 or 76% off the RRP. Jewellery was the most popular category on the site in he lead up to valentines.

The more extravagant boyfriends out there are snapping up deals on romantic short breaks in UK hotels - included a 2 night stay in a castle with breakfast for just GBP 99. The most popular short break deal was an overnight stay with dinner for just GBP 89 at Otterburn Country House Hotel in Northumberland.
