March 15th 2013, sees the return of Red Nose Day - Comic Relief, one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events. Comic Relief is a major charity based in the UK which strives to create a just world free from poverty and was first introduced in 1985. The idea was simple – Comic Relief would get a whole bunch of much-loved British comedians to make the public laugh while they raised money to help people in desperate need. Before too long, Red Nose Day was created. The first ever Red Nose Day in 1988 took the nation by storm – bringing together comedy and charity like never before on live national TV. In December 2001, Comic Relief launched a second major fundraising campaign – Sport Relief – which takes place in alternate years with Red Nose Day and along with the annual Children In Need event in October, these fund raising days have become something of an institution in this country. Graphics and Print, the Telford printer, have been supporting these fund raising initiatives for the last few years, through their 50/50 offer and it has proved so popular that they plan on continuing it in 2013.

Managing Director, Martin Kells explains: “So many businesses of varying sizes, from small businesses with a handful of staff to multi-national companies with thousands of employees, try to bring some fun to the work place on days such as Comic Relief and Children in Need day. Whilst the fun brings with it energy, team building and improved motivation, we all know that what’s of paramount importance is the fund raising side of things. When I see all the fantastic and sometimes silly things that people do to raise money for charity, it really does warm the heart but many of these individuals need to advertise that special thing they are doing, via leaflets, flyers, posters or brochures and that costs money which could be better served going to the charities themselves. So we came up the with the idea a few years ago of the 50/50 offer - this means that the first 50 businesses who approach us for help with printing services or creative graphic design for anything to do with the Comic Relief appeal, we will provide up to £50 worth of design or print free of charge. Hopefully this helps businesses to save time designing or printing their own materials locally, enabling them to spend more time on the fund raising side of things and helps individuals who are trying to advertise their event, to raise even more money without the need to pay for the privilege of advertising what they are doing for charity.”

The Shropshire printers offer is usually well subscribed so anyone planning to raise money for Comic Relief, who is looking for a helping hand with their print or design, needs to take up the offer quickly as there are just under two weeks to go.
