Food pairings, Sherry tastings, special menus and Master classes are just a few of the activities already underway by participants.

With an impressive range of styles from refreshingly crisp Fino to flavourful Oloroso and indulgently rich Pedro Ximenez, Sherry matches perfectly with food – a fact not lost on the world’s top chefs.

3-star Michelin Chef Heston Blumenthal offers 30 Sherries in his world famous eatery The Fat Duck.
“Sherry is the traditional wine to drink with tapas, and its complexity and huge range of styles also makes it a perfect wine partner for tasting. The range of sherry styles is so vast that it can perfectly partner virtually with every type of food.”

World Sherry Day™ falls on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Denomination Origin (D.O.) of Sherry-Jerez-Xeres–Manzanilla, designed to protect the heritage and traditions of the world famous Sherry Solera and Criadera system of Jerez.

The event has been brought to fruition under the watchful eye of Sherry Educator, Wolfgang Hess, whose ambition is to connect those who love Sherry and encourage a new generation of aficionados to appreciate one of the world’s oldest winemaking traditions.

Befitting a wine of such heritage, the Consejo Regulador
of Sherry wines is the oldest governing body of its kind in Spain.

“The joint efforts of the Consejo Regulador and the Sherry bodegas have generated hundreds of Sherry Ambassadors all over the World. Now we are delighted to see that, through the World Sherry Day initiative, they are connecting with so many other Sherry lovers to share their passion for our wines. I have no doubt that the first World Sherry Day will be a very unique, global celebration".

César Saldaña – El Director General, El Consejo Regulador del Vino de Jerez.
