As part of its development of Internet-based communications,
Norwich Union has installed Internet access from NETCOM, the
leading independent Internet service provider, across all
its life and pensions sales branch offices to ensure
consistency of communication between Norwich Union and its
business partners. NETCOM Internet access is a key component
of Norwich Union's development of its new stand-alone web
site designed specifically for Independent Financial
Advisers (IFAs), Norwich Union's major source of life and
pensions business.

To encourage IFAs to use this new communication medium to
gain competitive advantage, NETCOM and Norwich Union have
arranged a special Internet access deal. In a trade
promotional campaign, Norwich Union is offering IFAs the
opportunity to order NETCOM Internet software and
connectivity either direct from NETCOM or through Norwich
Union sales consultants, for easy access to the new Norwich
Union web site, and the Internet as a whole.

Nigel Hopwood, electronic markets manager at Norwich Union
commented, "We recognise that the Internet is a valuable
business development tool, but to switch to Internet-based
communications we had to be convinced that reliable and fast
Internet access would be available 24 hours a day. To work
in this new environment, we needed to be certain that issues
like security, value for money, and efficiency, backed up by
excellent customer service and technical support, were
guaranteed by our Internet service provider. Only NETCOM
could meet all our key requirements."

Hopwood continued, "We are promoting NETCOM Internet
connections and software to IFAs to enable them to use
Norwich Union's IFA First web site, and the Internet as a
whole, to keep up to date on the latest information and
develop their business. With NETCOM we feel confident that
this service will prove invaluable to IFAs."

Peter Webb, Subscriber Development Manager at NETCOM
Internet Ltd, commented, "We recognise the tremendous
opportunity which the Internet offers the financial sector.
Traditional financial services are increasingly moving
online, and NETCOM aims to drive this change. Our guaranteed
high-quality service is vital for companies using the
Internet for mission-critical business. Norwich Union has
led the way forward for Internet development in the
financial sector so its choice reinforces the calibre of our
business services."

The new Norwich Union web site will feature useful facts and
information for IFAs, including the latest information on
Norwich Union's products, investment news and analysis,
up-to-date fund statistics, and business development tools.
IFAs can also use the site for training purposes, request
information to be emailed directly to their personal mail
box, and download and print a large range of literature,
including proposal forms, key feature documents and
technical specifications, removing the need for them to keep
pre-printed stock.

To register for access to Norwich Union's IFA First web site
IFAs should ring 0645 444 800 or go to the web site at
www.norwich-union.co.uk/ifa.
