we have some great properties available, at home and abroad, that will give you the boost you need to get up and go back to the real world

Sour milk, dirty clothes and an overflowing email inbox are just some of the reasons Brits feel blue when they get back from a blissful holiday, according to a recent social media survey* by holiday rentals specialists Owners Direct.

The top ten post-holiday gripes from the users of this leading site were:

• Returning to work and a mass of emails

• Putting up with the unpredictable British weather

• Unpacking suitcases full of dirty washing and sandy shoes

• Cleaning up after the mess pets have made

• Having no milk in the fridge for a cup of tea

• Opening bills and sifting through junk mail

• Going shopping

• Having to cook again rather than eating out every day

• Not spending quality time as a family

• A never ending pile of ironing

Angela Southall, Marketing Manager of Owners Direct said, “After a couple of weeks of relaxing on the beach with the sun on your back and a cocktail in your hand, returning home to a ton of washing, empty cupboards and an inbox full of urgent emails is hardly going to make anyone excited!”

She added, “Getting a neighbour to feed the cat and collect your post, taking an extra day off work, and even doing some washing whilst you’re away, can minimise the pain of returning to normality. Additionally, there is no doubt that booking an autumn break gives you something to look forward as the nights start to draw in. At Owners Direct we have some great properties available, at home and abroad, that will give you the boost you need to get up and go back to the real world”.
