TheFrameworks’ David & James with award

London, UK. (27 September 2013) A concept produced by creative branding and marketing agency TheFrameworks was named Best Use of Digital Media at the 2013 Third Sector Excellence Awards last night. "The Lonely Dodo", a four-minute animated film, is the centrepiece of a wider campaign conceived by TheFrameworks for Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Conceived entirely from scratch and the result of more than a year’s hard work by the agency’s team of writers, designers and project managers, the campaign launched with the first broadcast of the film on 23 April 2013. The animated short follows the imagined life of the last remaining Dodo and his fruitless quest to find others of his kind. It has so far clocked up over 260,000 online views.

Featuring the vocal talents of actor and broadcaster Stephen Fry and renowned impressionist Alistair McGowan, the film was written and animated in partnership with Aardman Animations, creators of Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run. Its aim is to highlight Durrell’s work saving endangered species from extinction, raising awareness among a global audience and encouraging support for the Jersey-based charity.

Terry Brissenden, founding partner at TheFrameworks, said: “After so much hard work by our talented team, we’re massively proud that the Dodo has been honoured with a Third Sector Excellence Award. It’s not only a testament to our creative abilities, but also the vital work that Durrell does. It’s fantastic to see the global impact our Lonely Dodo has had, and we wish him well as he continues to look for new friends.”

TheFrameworks has worked closely with Durrell since 2006, when it undertook a complete rebranding and repositioning of the organisation. Since then, TheFrameworks has written, designed and produced a wide range of collateral, from posters, adverts and leaflets to animal adoption packs and annual reports.

The Lonely Dodo himself was ecstatic, tweeting "Feel so proud for winning at @TSEawards last night! Best Use of #Digital #Media." He also paid special thanks to some of those who helped bring him to life: "@stephenfry Woohoo!! So happy to have won at the @TSEawards!! Thanks to all for your awesome #dodo work!! @TheFrameworks @aardman"
