inspire and teach adults to cook healthy, delicious food from scratch, easily and simply
With 60% of adults and 30% of children now overweight or obese (Daily Telegraph 28 May 2013) is directly linked to the fall in home cooking. To combat this Beverley Glock has launched budget Real Cooking Classes for Real People at her cookery school in Princes Risborough to help inspire and teach adults to cook healthy, delicious food from scratch, easily and simply.
Most cookery classes last for a full day and are expensive due to overheads, making them inaccessible for a lot of people who just want to learn to cook.
Beverley’s new courses will include the same content as before but without the frills. They’ll be shorter (10am-1pm), meaning you can still do school drop off and pick up and grab a healthy sandwich on the way home if you’re hungry. This means the courses will be more affordable for people who need them. The courses range from Bread making, Pasta and Sauces and Thai cookery to Beverley’s Family Meals series – Perfect Puddings, Vegetarian suppers, Cooking with Mince and for Winter – Soups, Stews and Casseroles and Healthy Comfort Food.
QUOTE “I want to teach real people how to cook real food and inspire them to be a little more adventurous with their everyday meals, and if it means knocking off the frills to achieve this then that’s what I’ll do” says Beverley Glock, author, broadcaster and founder of Splat Cooking.
The workshops last around 3 hours and are GBP40 for these first sessions. Christmas workshops include Edible Christmas Gifts, Cooking Ahead for Christmas and in the New Year Beverley will be running Baby Weaning workshops too.
Beverley is loading more recipe programmes onto her YouTube channel so that people who come on the workshops will have this as a guide once they return home and need a little more help than purely the recipe.
Note to editor: please feel free to come along and join in one of our workshops or contact us for photo shoots for these.
Beverley’s cookery school run a range of different seasonal workshops for adults and children to encourage families back into the kitchen. Beverley Glock, mother of 3, author and broadcaster realised early on the importance of family mealtimes and accessible cookery skills to promote good health and wellbeing. Her story makes an excellent business case study.
