Now in its tenth year, the European Women of Achievement
Awards recognises the increasingly important contribution
made by women in the fields of business, the arts and
humanitarian work. This year's awards will be given in five
categories: The Arts, Business, Entrepreneur, Humanitarian
and Professional. Some of the nominees include:

- Rose Mary Farenden - director employee relations, Ford
Motor Company. - Lesley Ann Harrison - general manager,
in-flight services, British Midland. - Rosie Pressland -
owner/principal, Pocklington Montessori School ltd. - Silvia
Dimitrova - Bulgarian icon painter/artist

Profiles of all the candidates shortlisted for the awards
are available on request. IBM's sponsorship
of this prestigious event reflects the valuable contribution
that women have played in IBM's success and the growing and
diverse role that women play in the IT industry generally.
The importance that IBM attaches to this event is
underscored by the presence of Hans Ulrich Maerki, IBM
Global Services European General Manager, and Rebecca
George, EMEA Recruitment Manager, IBM Global Services.

IBM has recently completed a white paper looking at the role
played by women in the IT industry. Rebecca George will be
available to discuss the main findings and issues raised.
