The online gambling experts at Super Casino have shared their thoughts on new statistics released by the Gambling Commission on gambling in the UK.

It has been reported by Casinomeister that the UK Gambling Commission has recently released statistics on the UK’s gambling industry, providing information on various sectors including casinos, lotteries, and betting. The statistics reveal that, between April 2012 and March 2013, online and mobile gambling was responsible for 13% of the gambling market, bringing in a total of £832.1 million, placing it ahead of bingo, arcades and lotteries. Further results reveal that online revenues increased by 39% across 2012 and 2013, while online casinos almost doubled the revenues achieved last year, with the 2012-2013 period bringing in a total of £863 million.

The statistics also revealed the most popular online casino games. Delivering a Gross Gaming Yield (GGY) of £24.7 million, slot machines seemed to be the most popular, closely followed by online table games which doubled the GGY achieved last year to a total of £10.3 million. The UK Gambling Commission’s statistics also identified that the number of players signing up to participate in online gambling has risen to a total of 16.53 million, with the number of active accounts rising by nearly one million.

As a company at the centre of the online gambling industry, the experts at Super Casino were interested in the recent release of these statistics and a representative for the company shared their thoughts on the figures:

“It is exciting news that online gaming is responsible for a significant part of the casino industry, and at Super Casino we are interested to see the affect the number of online players has on the industry as a whole. The internet has formed a large part of our daily lives, and with more and more people using the Internet and going online on their smartphones, it suggests why the number of people playing online casino games has increased. We look forward to the release of further statistics on the online gaming industry and seeing how online gambling will continue to have an impact on the industry.”
