The online casino specialists at Super Casino have offered their comments after the release of statistics which reveal the average amount households spent on gambling last year.

It has been reported by iGamingBusiness that the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in the UK has released statistics into the average amount British households spent on gambling throughout 2012. The ONS revealed in its Family Spending report that an average of £3.20 was spent on gambling per week, which was a rise of 50p on the amount spent in 2011. ONS’ report revealed that in the north west of England each household won, on average, £4 a week with an outlay of £3.50, although this trend wasn’t representative of the UK as a whole. The amount of money spent on gambling was reportedly higher than the amount British households spent on trips to the cinema, theme parks, museums and concerts.

As one of the leading online casinos providing a range of online games such as roulette and blackjack, the experts at Super Casino closely follow news relating to the industry. A representative for the company offered their comments on these recent statistics:

“The recent release of these statistics highlights how popular gambling has become for households in the UK. Gambling online, for example, can be a popular hobby for households, particularly as it can be done from the comfort of your own home. The statistics show that the average spend on gambling has risen slightly since 2011, and while this suggests at the popularity of gambling, these figures serve as a reminder to households to gamble responsibly. We look forward to the release of further statistics on the industry and whether gambling continues to grow in popularity.”
