Leading power management solution provider to leverage
silicon technology in wireless, computing and automotive

ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN), formerly a division of
Motorola, and Siliconix (Nasdaq: SILI), a subsidiary of
Vishay Intertechnology (NYSE: VSH) announced today a
strategic cross-licensing agreement to accelerate the
development of power management solutions. ON Semiconductor
is one of the world's largest suppliers of analogue ICs,
logic ICs, and discrete semiconductors for data and power
management. Siliconix is a leading manufacturer of power
MOSFETs, power ICs and analog signal processing devices for
computers, cell phones, fixed communications networks,
automobiles and other electronic systems. Both companies are
committed to creating products that extend the battery life
of applications such as cell phones and notebook computers.

Siliconix is licensing to ON Semiconductor its TrenchFET
transistor technology and BCDMOS analog process technology,
each for undisclosed royalties. The agreement is expected to
enable ON Semiconductor to extend its reach into the low
power wireless, computing and automotive markets.

A previous agreement between the two companies led to the
production of more than half a billion units last year,
which translated into two units for each of the 283 million
cellular phones sold in 1999. The agreement is expected to
enable the exchange of silicon intellectual property for
power management, extending battery life in applications
such as cell phones and notebook computers.

"This exchange signifies the beginning of what we hope will
be a wide collaboration between ON Semiconductor and
Siliconix in power management solutions," said Jim Thorburn,
Chief Operating Officer, ON Semiconductor. "We believe that
our expertise in automotive semiconductors and high volume
manufacturing coupled with Siliconix' expertise in
TrenchFETs and innovative packaging ideally position our two
companies to bring unique power management solutions to the
wireless, computing and automotive markets."

About ON Semiconductor ON Semiconductor, formerly a division
of Motorola, is one of the world's largest suppliers of
analogue, standard logic, and discrete semiconductors for
data and power management. ON Semiconductor's products
include integrated circuits for high-bandwidth data
applications, analogue ICs for power management and
low-voltage power transistors. In addition to using
micropackaging technology across all product families, ON
Semiconductor offers the largest selection of discrete
semiconductors in a variety of surface mount and standard
packages. These semiconductors turn on and connect digital
electronic products to our world. ON Semiconductor is the
trade name of SCG Holding Corporation's affiliate,
Semiconductor Components Industries, LLC. Further
