Freddy Tenberg, CEO of Buyonet, comments on today's Powergen security
scandal:

"This scandal only goes to prove that it is imperative that ALL aspects of
security are addressed in order to generate and restore customer confidence
in an e-commerce site. Shortcuts or compromises never work. The event of the
scandal would have been easily avoided by not storing the information in
'clear format', (i.e. it should have been encrypted before storing it on the
server) and implementing proper protection to access the information on the
server in the first place - they are very simple safeguards to implement"

Buyonet, a global leader in electronic commerce for digital products and
services, has developed an efficient backend e-commerce system by which it
designs, manages and hosts online storefronts for online retailers, software
publishers and portals worldwide. Buyonet has developed a hugely successful
anti-fraud system, which is used by a number of e-tailers, such as Lycos and
jungle.com.
