Money Transfer service allows families to send money without the need for traditional banking facilities

London, April 2014 – Spring is finally here and with Easter celebrations just around the corner, Ukash, the global online cash payment provider, is reminding the more than seven million* migrants living and working across Britain that they can send cash home to family and friends through the MoneyGram Money Transfer Service, via the Ukash website.

Whether they belong to the 60%** of British residents that consider themselves Christian or just observing the festive celebrations, Easter is a holiday during which many migrants may think about sending cash home to friends and relatives around the globe. However, with data revealing that as many as one in four*** within specific migrant communities has no access to traditional banking facilities, this can be complicated.

The Ukash online service, powered by MoneyGram, provides the ideal solution as traditional banking facilities are not needed to make a money transfer transaction. With a Ukash code, which can be purchased with cash at thousands of convenience stores around the UK, up to £200 can be sent online at It can then be collected at any of MoneyGram’s 334,000 outlets in over 200 countries around the world, either as cash or sent direct to a bank account or e-wallet.

Making a money transfer couldn’t be easier, as the MoneyGram Money Transfer service allows customers to make stress-free transactions in the comfort of their own homes, avoiding the queues in busy shops, and having to complete lots of paperwork. The availability of Ukash at convenience stores around the UK means the facility remains widely accessible during public holidays when many other shops are closed.

“Easter is a time for families to come together; a time to give back to the special people in our lives, no matter how distant the ties may be”, said Miranda McLean, Marketing Director, Ukash. “It is exactly this type of global holiday we had in mind when we teamed up with MoneyGram to provide the MoneyGram Money Transfer service.

“Those using the service have the ability to send and receive cash in a way previously only possible for those with a debit or credit card and a bank account. This is ideal for families that want to give money to relatives and friends in other parts of the world.”
