Fisher Tomlin & Bowyer Best in Show

The Woodland Garden was inspired by the company’s work for Blind Veterans UK in North Wales

UK garden designers Fisher Tomlin & Bowyer have confirmed that their woodland garden designed for the 10th RHS Flower Show Cardiff will be re-located as a permanent garden just metres from where the garden won Best in Show and an RHS Gold Medal last week.

Director Andrew Fisher Tomlin said “Whenever we have created show gardens we make an effort to find a permanent home for the garden either as a whole or in part, otherwise all that creativity and construction effort can be lost. Our first ever show garden was relocated to Roundhay Park in Leeds and now the Woodland Garden is to become a permanent garden in Bute Park in Cardiff.”

The Woodland Garden was inspired by the company’s work for Blind Veterans UK in North Wales where they have designed a 4 acre garden from an existing woodland. A kitchen garden will also be constructed, both to commemorate the centenary of the charity in 2015.

Fisher Tomlin added “ We had an amazing positive response to the garden from visitors. It was a great pleasure to take vision impaired visitors onto the garden and gauge their reaction as much as it was good to get feedback from general visitors, many of whom will now be able to experience the plants and the focal slate circle for themselves when it is re-built.”

Fisher Tomlin & Bowyer have also been commissioned to create a permanent island garden for the Amiens ‘Art, Cities and Landscapes’ festival in Northern France in 2014. They are also returning to the Australian Garden Show Sydney in September 2015 to create a garden that will be re-located to a permanent site at a Sydney hospital after the show.
