Online casino and gambling experts, Jackpot247, have commented on a new task force set up in Mississippi to look at regulated online gambling across the US.

A task force has been commissioned in Mississippi in an effort to look again at regulating online gambling in the state, despite deciding against legalisation previously. A new study will survey online gaming and sports betting in Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey, where the practice has been legalised, and reconsider its place in Mississippi for the future. The idea of regulating online gambling in the state was recently rejected for the third consecutive year.

Executive director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission, Alan Godfrey, has been appointed chairman of the new task force, with various representatives in state government and business tasked with gathering information on the casino industry as part of the study. In a letter to members of the task force, Godfrey wrote: “Our most important role in this task force will be advisory, with data and analysis about Internet gambling. We will not be making any recommendations regarding any new legislation or regulations."

Online and mobile gambling experts, Jackpot247, have commented on news of this new task force, celebrating Mississippi’s reconsideration of online gambling in the state. A spokesperson for the company said:

“No matter what the outcome of the study, we are in support of the state’s potential reconsideration of regulation of online gambling in the state, and feel that commissioning this new task force is a positive step in the right direction. Legalising online gambling in Mississippi would have a number of benefits, including a safer and more secure experience for players and increased tax revenue for the state, and the fact that the study plans to look at online gambling in Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey suggests these things will be considered.”
