Oxford Member of Parliament Nicola Blackwood has been given a guided tour of Essentra Components' manufacturing plant in Kidlington, Oxford. The UK company specialises in making a vast range of small but essential parts for industry, such as plastic caps, plugs and feet.

Nicola Blackwood, who was elected MP for Oxford West and Abingdon in 2010, was shown around by manufacturing manager David Barker. The vast factory houses over 160 injection moulding and dip moulding machines.

She also toured the company's brand new GBP7 million warehouse, one of Essentra's largest investments in the UK. The 3500 square metre, purpose built distribution centre operates 24/7, and is equipped with the latest technology, including wire guided forklift trucks.

"It was exciting to see such a large investment in local manufacturing," said Nicola Blackwood. "I was impressed by the scale of Essentra's manufacturing facilities here, and thanks to my visit I now know a lot more about injection and dip moulding than I did before!"

Formerly known as Moss Express, Essentra Components manufactures and supplies a vast range of small but essential components, primarily for finishing and protection applications, that play a critical enabling role in customers' products.
