Leaders in online and mobile gambling, SuperCasino, have welcomed the news that legislators in the US state of Pennsylvania have formally introduced a bill to regulate online gaming.

This follows the announcement by State Senator Edwin B. Erickson last month of his intention to lobby for internet poker in the Keystone State.

The bill stipulates that Pennsylvania is permitted to participate in interactive gaming arrangements with other US states and territories as long as the activity is legal within those dominions and only approved games are offered within the Commonwealth.

A notable safeguard is the inclusion of a strong ‘Bad Actor’ clause that differentiates those operators that stopped offering online betting within state borders after the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

It also includes a caveat designed to protect the funds of players in cases of corporate insolvency.

For gross gaming revenue generated from online casino games, a tax rate of 14% would be evaluated.

A companion online gaming bill has also been announced in the House and is expected to be formally introduced soon.

This is the second year in succession that the subject of regulated online gaming has been formally brought before state legislators, with the previous year’s bill stalling in committee.

A spokesman for SuperCasino hailed the latest development, saying: “Hopefully this will pave the way for Pennsylvania to join New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware as being the only states in the US to have regulated online gaming.

“If legislation is passed the state will benefit from additional revenue and it will provide measures to protect consumers from unscrupulous operators, which will be vital to the longevity of the industry,” he added.

With live roulette games broadcast on Channel 5 and Sky channel 862, SuperCasino is the longest running and most popular online TV casino in the world.
Famous for providing a realistic gaming experience online, offers games to suit a variety of tastes, including roulette, blackjack, card games, table and video poker as well as a selection of slots and arcade games.
