In addition to the website, which launches on July 18th, four free A2 posters will be shipped to all stores, containing a spread of products including games, DVDs, peripherals, action figures, PC System building and clothing merchandise.

A DVD, suitable for in-store play-out will also be dispatched, containing high quality footage of products which are generally sold by indie stores. As a responsible publisher, all Game-Trader products contain appropriate Age Ratings where necessary and content is suitable for family viewing.

The website, posters and in-store DVD will contain Independent Retailer Month branding and all of the Game Trader stores have been strongly urged to register their details on the Independent Retail website.

"The Independent Retailer Month campaign is brilliant and it's here to stay. There are over 300 UK independent video games and tech retailers who all have a very loyal and passionate customer base. There is so much cross-over in the games and tech sectors and the product spread is so wide and varied. There's new games, used games, retro games, DVDs, Blu-Rays, eSports, peripherals, clothing, merchandise, action figures, PC system buildings, and repairs. As technology evolves, people need experts and indie stores are the experts; they're not box shifters," says Jonathan Beales, publisher of Game-Trader.

Since its UK launch in July 2011, Independent Retailer Month, which runs throughout July, has grown rapidly, engaging thousands of retailers and consumer-facing businesses UK-wide. It highlights the important role that smaller, independent retailers play in the communities they serve, the local economy they contribute to, and in the retail sector as a whole.
By encouraging independent retailers, groups of retailers, and even whole towns to create fun and engaging promotions, activities and events during the month of July, the campaign also tackles the very real issue of declining footfall in towns and village centres.

Independent Retailer Month UK is led by Clare Rayner, The Retail Champion, founder of the “Support for Independent Retail” campaign, which, alongside Independent Retailer Month, includes the “Enjoy an Independent Easter” and the “Celebrate an Independent Christmas” campaign events.
