After a period out of production, ETLG Inertial Aerosystems is re-introducing the high performance digital compass, Honeywell model HMC6343.

The module is a tilt-compensated electronic compass module that is ready to deploy in a variety of commercial and defence applications: binoculars, cameras, night vision equipment, laser range fingers, antenna positioning equipment and navigation hardware.

About the Compass Module

The Honeywell HMC6343 is a fully integrated digital module that includes:

• Firmware for all heading computations
• Calibration which can compensate for magnetic distortions

It is housed in a Leadless Chip Carrier (LCC) surface mount package that measures 9mm by 9mm by 1.9mm.

It offers:

• 3-axis, magneto-resistive sensor
• 3-axis Micro Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) accelerometer
• Analogue and digital support circuits
• Microprocessor
• Algorithms for heading computation
• Output via I2C (I-squared-C) serial port

Also, now available in production quantities is the triaxial magnetic sensor model HMC1043L. Both the HMC6343 and HMC1043L are available as demonstration boards allowing system designers to optimize design time.
