TDB Fusion’s Federos provided us with the ability to execute on our commitment to deliver transparency and flexibility to our customers
VIRTUS Data Centres provide first free DCIM solution to UK colocation customers through the VIRTUS Intelligent Portal powered by TDB Fusion’s Federos™
VIRTUS Data Centres Ltd. (VIRTUS), London's flexible and efficient data centre specialists, today announced the launch of the VIRTUS Intelligent Portal (VIP), the industry’s first free Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution for colocation customers in the UK powered by TDB Fusion's Federos.
The VIRTUS Intelligent Portal is web based and provides customers with complete transparency into and control of their co-located data centre usage – not offered by other colocation providers. This enables them to visualise and manage space, power, cooling and energy efficiency through a single pane of glass.
The VIP has been developed in conjunction with TDB Fusion utilising its Federos platform, which enables Virtus to provide customers with transparency and service flexibility via a role-based user interface, underpinned by a powerful workflow capability. The VIP implementation integrates iTRACS who deliver open, enterprise-class DCIM solutions. The collaboration means the VIP has been designed to be a highly flexible system ensuring both ease of adoption and integration with existing applications.
Robbie McGhie, CTO, VIRTUS Data Centres, said: “TDB Fusion’s Federos provided us with the ability to execute on our commitment to deliver transparency and flexibility to our customers. By providing real-time information in a centralised, role-based user interface, from contracts and order processing to financial statements, and from environmental performance to real-time power monitoring, underpinned by a powerful workflow and automation capability, we are seeing significant opportunities to lead the data centre co-location market, both in the way we engage with customers, and in driving operational efficiencies as we develop both additional facilities and service offerings”.
As well as standard DCIM capabilities, the collaboration means customers can take advantage of iTRACS licensing to integrate data from their IT assets, giving them additional visibility and management. Using the VIP, customers are able to exercise the same amount of control as if it were their own data centre and can do this from a remote or office location via the web based portal.
The VIP also provides enhanced visibility into data centre system utilisation and has the ability for customers to analyse large amounts of information and see it presented with detailed 3D visualisations of their deployment. The VIP has a roadmap that will continually be added to, providing customers with transparency into the support systems of their colocation installation that include: remote access control, trouble ticketing, invoicing and SLA performance monitoring and can be customised to meet departmental or company brand requirements, based on role-based dashboards.
Matthew Larbey, Product Strategy Director, VIRTUS Data Centres, said: “This is the first colocation DCIM offering of its kind in the UK. Every data centre can collect data, but it’s what you do with it that makes it valuable. As a result, business executives are challenging their IT and facilities staff to convert data centres from cost centres into producers of business value. Having an effective DCIM solution in place combined with flexible colocation terms is one of the best ways to achieve this.”
Colin Aurelius, CEO, TDB Fusion said: “The VIRTUS Intelligent Portal is the first solution of its kind to provide colocation customers with the ability to transform data into powerful management information that’s visible, meaningful, and actionable. The VIP’s open architecture means customers can leverage the management information directly, or integrate it with their existing applications, making it an ideal offering for colocation customers with multiple data centre assets, and enabling a service orientated data centre strategy for the business.”
