PRINCE2

An experienced project management team are to be employed by the Indian railway minister. This is to overcome delays in project execution.

It has been reported that railways across India have fallen victim to bad progress due to tight budgets and severe time mismanagement. D.V. Sadananda Gowda used a number of statistics to back up his proposal. In the last 30 years, 676 projects have been sanctioned and only 317 of these have been completed. The others have been abandoned or neglected. Lok Sabha is a group of experienced project management professionals and railways industry experts. They have now been given the challenge of ensuring that railway project management failures are avoided in the future. They are part of a new government initiative called Innovations Incubations Centre. This body will be set up to adopt the ideas generated from the new railway projects. The plan is to establish success and failures. This way they can be harnessed and channelled, or avoided in future projects.

A spokesperson from ILX, experts in the field of project management, has stated: ‘These are extremely positive step the government is taking. It is imperative to begin to make sure projects are being completed successfully and on time. Their involvement with project management professionals will help them to address the problems they have encountered in the past. If they stick to the outlined plans, ILX predicts the Indian transport system will benefit greatly and begin to see positive changes.
