The Wish Junior Football campaign has been created by the Tyne and Wear Chronicle in order to provide new kits for non-profit junior football teams in the area.

By collecting tokens published in the paper, teams try to accumulate as many as possible in order to win a share of a £10,000 prize pot. The bigger share of tokens the bigger slice of cash you will receive.

The tokens will appear every day in the paper for two months.

Team members and supporters are being encouraged to ask families, friends, group members, teachers, pupils and neighbours for their help.

Teams from all over the county have put themselves in for a chance to win some extra cash.

The majority of teams who have put themselves in the running are hoping to raise money for new kit, as well as new practice equipment.

The Redby Reds Under 9s are looking to start the coming summer or winter league in a new kit. They are a competitive team who work hard every week. Their coach stated ‘the boys deserve, and would feel great, in new kits and tracksuits.’

The Stakeford Juniors in Northumberland are looking to win some cash to purchase a new kit after donating their old one to children in Africa. After two years in their current kit, the boys are handing them over so they can be shipped to those less fortunate in Tanzania. Winning some cash from the Wish Junior Football fund will help replace the kit that was sent to Africa.

A spokesperson from Team Colours, commented: ‘The Wish Junior Football campaign is a fantastic initiative getting people all over the county involved in community football. The token collecting process creates a bit of healthy competition amongst areas and teams, but also gives kids a chance to win some money for the teams they love. Many of the teams understand the importance of a professional and smart football kit for a team. Wearing your team colours helps you to feel and play like a team too. This is a fantastic opportunity for children all over the area.’
