Leading providers of customised teamwear, Team Colours, has responded to the news that Manchester United have signed a £750m kit deal with German sportswear giant Adidas.

It follows the announcement of a 10 year partnership between Manchester United and Adidas from the 2015-16 season that will earn the Old Trafford club a world record-breaking £75m a season.

The figure obliterates the £23.5m a year that current kit supplier Nike is paying, and the new deal comes just days after the US company decided to terminate its association with United at the end of the forthcoming season.

It is also more than double what Adidas pay Champions League winners Real Madrid, whose £31m-a-year deal was previously the biggest club deal.

Under the terms of the agreement, Adidas will provide training and playing kit to all the club’s teams and will have exclusive rights to distribute dual-branded merchandise worldwide.

It will be the first time Adidas has made the record Premier League winner’s strip in 23 years, having previously supplied it throughout the 1980s up until the 1991-92 season.

Although no details of the design have been revealed, the company have said they may look to those Manchester United kits of the late 20th Century for inspiration.

As a leading provider of customised sports kit and leisurewear, Team Colours says the deal speaks volumes for the global appeal of the Manchester United brand.

A spokesman for the company said: “It is a colossal figure that blows every other kit deal out of the water and underlines just how iconic the Manchester United brand is around the world now.

“It is not that surprising to hear that Adidas may be looking at the kits from the 80s and early 90s for ideas, because the retro-style kits are proving to be very popular among supporters,” he added.
