Generous sponsorship means that walkers taking part in the fifth Swanage and Purbeck Walking Festival have the opportunity to win books courtesy of Coastal Publishing, a small independent publisher based in Dorset.

The first three hundred walkers to book one of the thirty themed and expertly-guided walks will each receive a free book featuring the Wildlife on the Jurassic Coast and all walkers are to be entered into a prize draw to win a complete set of South West Coast Path guides..

Peter Sills, managing Director of Coastal Publishing said, “We are delighted to be involved with the Swanage and Purbeck Walking Festival. Our area of expertise is in products featuring the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and the Festival showcases this beautiful area which is a paradise for walkers of all levels of fitness.”

A free MiniMap of the area printed on waterproof paper and in a handy clear plastic wallet will also be given to the first hundred walkers, courtesy of MyMiniMap.

The Organisers are also delighted that Cotswold Outdoors have sponsored and supported the Festival this year.

Specialised walks feature bug hunts, ghost walks, photography, art trails and strolls investigating the literary history of the area while others simply encourage walkers to enjoy the fantastic coastal views from the paths and tracks which criss-cross the Purbeck Hills and its spectacular coastline. Running alongside the main Festival is a full programme of Nordic Walks, from taster and training sessions to full length walks with an expert instructor on hand.

Festival Organiser, Jackie Lane, said, “The landscape of Purbeck is so varied and has such a rich history that we are able to pick some of the most interesting and spectacular areas to theme our walks, ensuring that visitors and locals alike find something new to enjoy.

The Festival runs from 20th – 28th September and a full schedule of walks is available at www.walkswanage.com or through the local Tourist Information Centres in Swanage (01929 422885) and Wareham (01929 552470).
