a number of businesses in the area had neglected to invest in suitable security and have suffered as a result

The reaction follows a report in the Western Telegraph stating that members of an organised burglary syndicate have been jailed after tens of thousands of pounds worth of cash and goods were stolen across numerous attacks on industrial estates in Pembrokeshire.

The leaders of the crime ring were accused of burgling numerous businesses in the area during a raid that lasted around four hours. Over £40,000 in cash, tools and equipment were taken from the sites, along with a van that was worth around £12,000, and very little of the stolen goods were recouped. Swansea’s Crown Court has described Antony Jones, 28, and Llewellyn Luce, 37, were ‘prolific, professional and undeterrable’ in their actions.

It appears that a number of businesses in the area had neglected to invest in suitable security and have suffered as a result. Apple Blossom Cleaners, Rushacre Garage, Premier Stoves, Tradeframe Manufacturers and Silverstone Green Energy were the companies that experienced the biggest losses, along with two other businesses and a storage shed that were also targeted during the raid.

Despite there being a lack of high-quality security systems present in the area, the criminals were eventually apprehended thanks to CCTV systems along the M4 motorway. Had there been sufficient security present at the scenes of the burglaries, police would have been able to apprehend the criminals much sooner. However, it has taken almost nine months for authorities to complete their investigation and prosecution.

A spokesperson for AlertSystems, market leaders in business security, has released a statement following the court’s verdict. “As this case shows, businesses need to take the threat of prolific, organised thieves extremely seriously.

“In areas like Pembrokeshire industrial estate, where businesses are in a close vicinity of each other, there needs to be a coherent security system in place in order to prevent incidents like these occurring. Through communication between business leaders and successful implementation of high-quality security, thieves will think twice before targeting areas such as this.”
