Leading overseas relocation specialist, Interdean, believes the results of a study revealing the contentment of international graduates in Germany is testament to the fantastic educational and work opportunities that exist in the country.

According to the research published by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), overseas graduates from German universities are generally extremely satisfied with their lives and long-term career prospects. In fact, the vast majority of those surveyed confirmed their intention to stay and work in Germany now that their studies have come to an end.

International students clearly recognise that obtaining a university degree in Germany is the most likely way of securing employment in the country. The study found that more than half of former students from countries outside the EU remain in Germany after successful completion of their studies. About 85 per cent of the graduates interviewed are already working for German-based organisations, with most of them in full-time employment. China, the Russian Federation and Ukraine were identified as the main countries of origin for graduates.

The respondents indicated the prosperous job market in the European nation, reasonable salary expectations for employees and its solid economic situation as being major factors in their decision to stay there after finishing their studies. The quality of life enjoyed by German citizens was also found to play an important role in graduates making plans for a long-term stay. Overall, an impressive 81 per cent of those polled said they are satisfied with their life in Germany.

As a leading provider of overseas relocation services, Interdean has backed the survey findings as evidence of the outstanding personal and professional opportunities that await young foreign students who decide to move to Germany.

A spokesman for the company said: ‘This survey clearly illustrates the affinity that young overseas students quickly develop with the education system in Germany and the country as a whole. Its universities offer some of the best tuition on the continent, something that is clearly fully appreciated by international graduates.

‘They also offer the best possible route for international students to go on and secure full-time employment in the country. The career prospects for those with a degree from a German University are superb and, when combined with the overall quality of life on offer, help to explain why an increasing number of young people from overseas are deciding to relocate to Germany,’ he added.
