Any business with a car park area for customers and employees will benefit from effective security camera placement

Leading providers of commercial security CCTV, AlertSystems, discusses the recent news of the attempted carjacking in an employee car park in Greater Manchester.

The CCTV footage released clearly shows the Audi Q3 parked outside of Green Pest Control, Ripponden Road, Oldham on Friday. The company boss of Green Pest Control, Deborah Smythe, had exited her vehicle to unlock the car park barrier for herself and other employees.

Within a few seconds a man ran to the open Audi, jumped in the driver’s seat and attempted to drive away. Mrs Smythe proceeded to run back to the vehicle, open the door and struggle with the thief. The male reversed at high speed on to the main road, dragging Mrs Smythe along as she clung to the driver door and steering wheel.

After a 90 second struggle, captured on film, the thief drove back towards the barrier and ran from the vehicle. A battered and bruised Mrs Smythe staggered towards the main road to catch a glimpse of the offender. He was last seen running off in the direction of Little Moor Lane.

As leading providers of commercial security for small businesses, AlertSystems take a keen industry in relevant news. A spokesperson from the company made the following statement: “The recent story of Mrs Smythe’s struggle is certainly an unnerving one.
