The quality of high-definition surveillance systems is so good now that they provide a crime deterrent like never before

Leading provider of business security systems, AlertSystems, has welcomed a pledge by the new head of St Ives Chamber of Trade and Commerce to offer an improved service for traders in the Cornish town.

It follows the appointment of Neil Whitham, a committee member for two years, to the position of chairman. He says the chamber will put more emphasis on offering advice and information to business owners over the coming year.

Mr Whitham maintains that he is keen to continue the chamber’s work in pursuing objectives that will benefit the business community in St Ives. Among the issues they intend to look at includes CCTV provision, a fundamental consideration for improving the security of premises in the town.

There is genuine optimism that Mr Whitham will make good on his promise because of his track record in helping to protect the interests of traders since joining the chamber. As well as organising the first St Ives Business Fair, which will be held again this year, he was involved in the setup of the town’s Business Improvement District (BID).

As a leading independent provider of commercial security systems, AlertSystems has backed the plans set out by the chairman and believes the commitment to ensuring that CCTV provision is fit for purpose will greatly benefit the businesses operating in the town.

A spokesman for the company said: “We welcome the comments of the Chamber’s new chairman, someone who has clearly already done a lot for businesses in St Ives. His promise to continue pursuing objectives that will benefit those who live and work in the town is great news for everyone.

“Of course, one of the key issues will be security and it was good to hear him reference CCTV coverage specifically as one of the areas he will pay attention to. The quality of high-definition surveillance systems is so good now that they provide a crime deterrent like never before. By installing enough of the very latest CCTV cameras in St Ives, businesses will see criminal incidents like shoplifting and vandalism fall dramatically,” he added.

AlertSystems manage and maintain thousands of commercial security installations throughout the UK and are specialists in providing business security solutions. Offering professional service and a complete range of security services such as monitored alarm systems, Automatic Number Plate Recognition and Avigilon CCTV security systems, AlertSystems provides effective and reliable solutions to security problems.
