Networks '98 Stand number 10K120
24 June 1998

Internet Network Services (INS), the UK's leading business
to business ISP, launches a new service at Networks '98 that
will allow businesses to cut their annual telecom costs by
up to 50%, using virtual private networks (VPNs). Carrier
Services Division will make INS' affordable, failsafe mesh
network available to the growing number of customers needing
UK and global communication links to transport voice, data
and even broadcast quality video on national and global

The INS network can deliver substantial cost savings to
businesses who want either ATM services, VPN services, or to
keep their network links exclusive, by delivering leased
line (clear channel) services internationally at speeds of
up to155Mbps or multiples thereof.

Nigel Panter, head of Carrier Services Division (CSD) says,
"Our customers want us to help them to implement secure
convergent networks cost-effectively across their
businesses, improving communication among their offices
around the globe. This is reflected by our committing a
further $60 million into the second phase of our network
development plans.

"INS' network has been developed over a period of four years
to be reliable, flexible and scalable. We can offer all
businesses affordable, international communications
providing connections for multiple services over single or
multiple 'pipes' at truly competitive prices. We fully
support our products with a true service level agreement
(SLA) that not only guarantees network availability at
99.5%, it also guarantees throughput at the stated
data-rate. None of our competitors offers a range of
guaranteed, integrated services for use with voice, video,
Internet, private network and VPN use."

The 20 territories currently covered by INS' Carrier
Services Division include the UK, USA, Canada, France,
Germany, Norway, Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands and
Switzerland. There are also services available in selected
locations in the Middle and Far East.

"Clearly, if you are going to place all your traffic with
one supplier, you need to be able to rely on them,"
commented Tim Challenor, managing director, INS. "We have
always believed that once a customer has experienced network
connection they become aware that, although price is
important, the cost implications of not having a fast and
reliable network can be extensive. To a man they have
realised that the price of a high-quality service yields a
lower cost of use, especially when traffic can be
consolidated using convergent technologies."

Carrier Services Division Services CSD offers connectivity
ranging from 64kbps to multiple 155Mbps circuits that
support the following services: · IP Data · Asynchronous
Transfer Mode (ATM) (CBR, VBR-RT, VBR-NRT, ABR) · Clear
channel · MPEG video stream · Voice virtual private
