CTV cameras outside of Village DIY in Little Lever captured the moment a thief broke in before stealing six charity boxes from the counter.

Leading providers of business security, AlertSystems, reported on a recent charity box theft in Little Lever.

CTV cameras outside of Village DIY in Little Lever captured the moment a thief broke in before stealing six charity boxes from the counter. The raider broke into the business on Church Street in the early hours of Saturday morning. Using a large stone, the suspect managed to break a laminate window before entering the building.

Owner, Ismail Bargit, owned CCTV cameras that captured the criminal during the early-morning raid. The suspect can clearly be seen in the footage hanging around the business, waiting for an opportunity to break in. After launching the stone through the window and climbing inside, he can be seen exiting again carrying a plastic bag containing the charity boxes.

The search has continued for the individual in the footage. He is described as being of medium build, wearing a black Adidas tracksuit with white stripes on the trousers and white trainers. The local community have condemned the actions of the individual as the boxes were raising money for North West Ambulance and a Gaza relief fund. It is believed that one of the boxes could have had up to £100 inside.

Upon hearing the news, a spokesperson from AlertSystems made the following statement: “Small local businesses are at risk of a break-in all too often. It is an unfortunate reality that even living outside of the city in a small rural area could still mean your business is at risk. However, by implementing effective business CCTV, security criminal activity can be prevented.

“Unfortunately for Mr. Bargit, his business CCTV was not enough to stop the thief. Nevertheless, by sharing the footage online as part of a public appeal, many people in the local and surrounding areas have had an opportunity to identify the thief. This is a fast and effective method of apprehending criminals. Local businesses who do not commit to high-quality security will inevitably suffer should anything go wrong.”
