CCTV providers

considering all options and then investing accordingly can make a world of difference.

The business security specialists at AlertSystems have supported the claims of a Welsh police sergeant who believes that CCTV is a “beneficial asset” to fighting crime, despite cuts to be made across Carmarthen town centre.

Sergeant Dominic Jones, based at Friars Park police station, stressed his point, explaining that “there have been many times when I was on patrol that CCTV was a valuable tool.” The neighbourhood officer goes on to explain that on many occasions he was made aware of the location and description of a suspected local shoplifter, enabling him to apprehend the individuals involved. Jones believes it makes sense to “spend every pound where it delivers.”

His comments follow the news that Dyfed Powys Police Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon plans to cut the budget for camera monitoring by £40,000 in 2015. The announcement comes just months after innovative steps in CCTV were being considered. In response to the announcement, Sergeant Dominic Jones has said he doesn’t want people in the local area to worry about it being turned off.

As well-established providers of security systems, the team at AlertSystems naturally take a strong interest in industry news. Concerned by plans to cut the level of CCTV monitoring in Carmarthen town centre, a spokesperson for the company shares their advice on how business owners in the local area can remain protected.

“Whilst a lack of government-funded CCTV will understandably cause apprehension amongst businesses which operate in this area, the news also serves to highlight the benefits of owning your own security system. Whilst these are well documented, the true value is reached when high quality security systems are tailored around your individual business needs. Many people are unaware of the different varieties of security available, from traditional CCTV to thermal imaging or ANPR cameras, but considering all options and then investing accordingly can make a world of difference.”
