CCTV security cameras provide solid evidence and ultimately result in prosecutions

The reaction comes following a report in the Leicester Mercury detailing an attack on a member of the door staff at local club Mosh, wherein the assailant used a wheel brace in an attempt to seriously injure the bouncer following being denied entry to the establishment.

James Fixter, 22, aimed for the head of the bouncer but fortunately the attempt was able to be blocked by the victim’s forearm, before a second failed attempt led to the man being restrained and then detained by the club’s other door staff. Fortunately, the incident could be corroborated by the nightclub’s security cameras and as a result Fixter pleaded guilty once the case reached Leicester Crown Court.

Following the event, a spokesperson from AlertSystems released a statement, outlining the challenges faced by nightclubs to keep their staff and their customers safe at all times. “The incident highlights the need for venues to protect their members of staff both in and outside of their premises.

“Fortunately, on this occasion, there were other members of door staff there to help the victim neutralise the threat of further violence and there was a CCTV camera well-placed to provide evidence of the incident occurring, but many establishments continue to operate without sufficient security and therefore endanger customers and staff alike.

“Venues need to ensure they are sending out a message of zero tolerance to customers or members of the public that believe they can behave in this manner. While a well-trained door team will help do so on the night, CCTV security cameras provide solid evidence and ultimately result in prosecutions. There is no greater deterrent than a prison sentence, and should all clubs follow this model we can hope to experience a significant decline in violent incidents over the next few years.”
